Eid-e-Milad 2016: Marking the birth of Prophet Mohammad, India and Pakistan celebrate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to convey his wishes on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad. He tweeted:

President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and many Union Ministers also greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and appealed to recall his message to work towards universal brotherhood, tolerance and well-being of all.

The Islamic festival is dedicated to Prophet Mohammad and his teachings. Eid-e-Milad is the birth anniversary of the Prophet and a day to remember the Islamic icon’s teachings, message. Processions will be carried out in full swing in Pakistan as well, especially in Rawalpindi with 1541 processions that will be carried to mark the birth of Prophet Mohammad.

The government in Pakistan has also declared a holiday — as many as 40 cinema houses and theatres will be closed as per the notification issued by the City District Government Lahore. All educational institutions and offices will also remain closed, according to Daily Times.
