The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) received a complaint from the grandmother alleging that her daughter-in-law regularly beats the child. When the Commission directed the mobile helpline team to visit the residence, the sister-in-law of the accused handed over a CCTV footage of an incident wherein the mother can be seen violently beating up the child.
DCW Chief Swati Maliwal issued a notice to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Geeta Colony stating that a case must be registered against the accused lady under the relevant provisions. She also tweeted (sic) “Shocked at brutality of mother. Can’t beat animal in manner she beat her own 1.5 year son. Her mental condition needs to be investigated.”
Upon DCW intervention, FIR filed against mother. DCW got protection order for child from Child Welfare Committee, custody given to aunt. https://t.co/PSQNsmlgOs

The child was produced before the Child Welfare Committee and his custody was handed over to his aunt and grandmother.
