Scores of students and teachers at Jamia Millia Islamia on Monday stages a protest at the campus in the wake of rise in incidents of mob violence and mob lynching by cow vigilantes. Wearing black bands on their arms and chests, they appealed to the government to take strict actions against the culprits and remove fear from the minds of the people.
Condemning the incidents, professor Veeramani, who was the part of the protest, said, “Those lynching innocent people are challenging the democracy and the law. We as professors and teachers strongly condemn such attacks.”
In the last four months, around two dozen people have been killed in mob lynching over suspicion of cow theft and beef eating. “We all should united against these violent goons who are killing people in the name of cow,” said Saima Khan, a student.
