TRP scam case: Mumbai court docket grants bail to Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani

Mumbai: A Mumbai court docket on Wednesday granted bail to Republic Media Network‘s Chief Govt Officer Vikas Khanchandani, who used to be arrested in the alleged TRP (Television Rating Aspects) rigging scam.

Khanchandani used to be arrested on Sunday from his living by the police’s Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU).

A metropolitan Justice of the Peace court docket granted bail to Khanchandani on a money surety of Rs 50,000, his authorized marvelous Niteen Pradhan suggested.

The police began a probe into the alleged scam after ratings company Broadcast Target market Study Council (BARC) filed a grievance thru Hansa Study Agency about rigging of TRP by some channels.

TRP, measured by recording viewership data at sample households, is the biggest for attracting advertisers.

The BARC engaged Hansa to install and defend barometers which file TV viewership data at sample households.

It used to be alleged that all these families bask in been being bribed to tune into certain channels to ramp up their TRP.

In a price sheet filed fair lately, the police alleged that an official of Hansa paid money to sample households to tune into Box Cinema, Fakt Marathi, Maha Movie and Republic TV.

Republic TV has denied any wrongdoing.

The police want to this level arrested 13 folks in connection with the case.
