iPhone 14 to feature a titanium body on some models in 2022

Even before the launch of this year’s iPhone lineup, information on the next iteration is being shared on the internet. A new report now suggests a major upgrade due on the iPhone 14 series, something that might make the iPhone 13 improvements pale in comparison.

It is being speculated that the iPhone 14 series will feature a top-end model that will be made of titanium alloy. Other variants in the series will come with aluminum alloy and stainless steel frames.

A new report by JPMorgan Chase, spotted by iPhoneWired, mentions the names of the suppliers for these iPhone bodies. As per the report, the stainless steel frame will be supplied by Hon Hai and Jabli, while Hon Hai will exclusively produce the titanium alloy make.

If the speculation turns out to be true, this will not be the first time that Apple chooses titanium for its devices. The company did so for the latest edition of its Apple Watch. There are some clear advantages of the same.

As noted by 9to5Mac, titanium alloys constitute vanadium, chromium, nickel, and aluminium, for a much stronger built than stainless steel. This means less of the metal alloy has to be used for producing the body. This in turn allows for a lighter design than most other metals.
