BJP’s protest against new excise policy around 300 places in city

Kejriwal govt under pressure from liquor mafia to open liquor shops-Adesh Gupta

New Delhi, 11 January. The state BJP president Shri Adesh Gupta and scores of party workers today staged a massive protest across 300 places in the city against new excise policy of Kejriwal government. Leading the protest at New Delhi railway station Shri Gupta said one doesn’t know under which liquor mafias pressure the deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is compelled to open liquor shops here.

He said it’s not proper to open such shops in residential areas of the city but to fill up his own pockets CM Arvind Kejriwal has become so greedy that he can’t distinguish between good and bad. It’s the same kejriwal who used to talk lot about women’s safety and even now is giving them false assurances in poll bound states. But did he ever think whether women and children would feel safe with these shops coming up in residential areas. The state media head Shri Naveen Kumar Jindal and district chief Shri Rajesh Goel besides others were present with him.

The State BJP President said Kejriwal is encouraging alcoholism here while in Punjab he talks about prohibition. He warned his party is not going to sit quiet and can’t be threatened by Kejriwal’s dictatorial attitude  when it comes to exposing  anti people policies of state government  or scams whether it is jal board scam or DTC bus scam or any other.

He said kejriwal used to say if new liquor shop was to open in a locality he would first discuss with RWA or women organizations there but on the contrary, work is on to open 850 such shops and many of them have already come up. He said the party led protest against new excise policy is getting RWAs, local traders and women’s support. The fact is nobody wants these shops to come up in a market where one goes with his family.  Wherever these shops have been opened the atmosphere there has worsened, he said adding it has also affected the markets there. Shri Gupta said such shops are being opened in 70 per cent of such areas of the city in clear violation of municipal laws or master plan laws.

The LOP in Delhi assembly Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri while leading one such protest at Kotla Mubarakpur  chowk, said women are feeling unsafe and youths are being pushed towards alcoholism due to this anti people excise policy.  The fact is Kejriwal and his party are filling up their own pockets in the name of increasing government revenue. The district chief Shri Prashant Sharma was present with him.

At other places present were former city BJP president Shri Satish Upadhyaya at Safdurjung market, vice president Shri Rajan Tiwari at Rajinder Nagar metro station, MLAs Shri Anil Bajpayee at Seelampur metro station and Shri Ajay Mahavaar at Sonia Vihar, state mahila morcha president Smt Yogita Singh and vice president Smt Shyambala Chillar at Sudershan Park.
